Fantasy basketball playoffs approach.

For those of you who indulge yourselves in the world of fantasy basketball the playoffs finally have arrived.  After weeks of trading, free agent additions, lucrative smack talk and watching the waiver wire fantasy owners from coast to coast are now set to clash with the best of their leagues.

Points, assists, steals and any other statistic relevant in your particular league is all some fans pay attention to.  The truth is not everyone is interested in LeBron James having his own spot on Mount Rushmore.  Some fans would be hard pressed to tell you the expected starting five for their home town team.  That same individual could likely name every player starting for them in their fantasy league.

Fantasy basketball exposes elements of a players game that may be overlooked.  Josh Smith,  who is considered by many an underachieving power forward has much more value in a fantasy league compared to his NBA value.  He brings blocks, steals and scoring to the table.  Sprinkle in a three every now and then and you have yourself one of the best power forwards you can find.

Fantasy basketball is exactly what its name describes.  Some feel it takes away from the integrity of the game.  Those who feel that way have a valid point.  Despite how some may feel this time of year in the NBA is a tad bit more exciting thanks to fantasy basketball.
