Popovich wins third coach of the year award.

Greg Popovich is now the third coach in NBA history to win coach of the year honors for a third time.  Pop is one of the few coaches that is in the running for the award on a yearly basis.  He has coached the San Antonio Spurs to 15 consecutive 50 win seasons.  The Spurs even won 50 games during the lock out shortened 66 game season in 2012.

Pop has won four NBA Championships in his time as coach of the Spurs.  If not for Ray Allen's  miracle three pointer at the end of game six last June, Pop would be defending yet another NBA Championship as we speak.

Pop is already one of the best coaches in NBA history.  This NBA Coach of The Year award only adds to a long list of accomplishments.  Tim Duncan is going to be retiring in the near future.  It is unclear how long Pop will remain with the Spurs after Duncan is gone.  The Spurs are in the midst of one of the most successful runs in NBA history.  Basketball fans enjoy this run, it's going to be a while before you see a team win 50 games for 15 straight years again.
