Big time Timmy

Tim Lincecum has had to overcome a great deal during his baseball journey.  Due to his lack of size, scouts doubted whether he could ever garner success on the major league level.  Since joining the San Francisco Giants he has taken pride in proving all the naysayers wrong.

In recent years Tim has been increasingly frustrating to watch.  While other members of the Giants pitching staff have hit their stride, Tim seems to have hit a rocky point in his career.  Including this season he is only 39-48 since the start of the 2011 season.

He began his MLB career in impressive fashion.  In his first two full seasons he posted a 33-12 record, capturing back-to-back Cy Young awards along the way.

Last night Tim recorded the second no-hitter of his career against the San Diego Padres.  No pitcher has thrown a no-hitter for the Padres organization.

The only other pitcher in MLB history to record two no- hitters, two Cy Young awards and win two World Series Championships is Sandy Koufax.  It seems as if anytime a pitcher accomplishes a great feat it somehow becomes tied to Koufax and Don Drysdale.

Tim reminds me of Pedro Martinez in so many ways.   A dominant MLB pitcher that looks like he went to his senior prom last week.  If he can maintain this level of performance the Giants have a great shot at winning their third World Series in the last five years.

Tim Lincecum will be enshrined in Cooperstown someday.
