Thunder strikes !

Kevin Durant showed exactly why he is the reigning league MVP in game three of the Los Angeles Clippers and Oklahoma City Thunders second-round playoff series.  He scored 36 points on 14-24 shooting from the field, while logging an amazing 46 minutes.

Something special could be brewing in OKC.  The Thunder were on the verge of elimination after losing game five at home in their opening round series against the Grizzlies.  Kevin responded in game six with an MVP performance.  A few days later he received the MVP trophy he was six votes shy of unanimously winning.  Now it seems as if the weight of the world has been lifted off of Kevin's shoulders.  This series is not over yet, but if OKC manages to steal another road victory in game four the Clippers can kiss this season goodbye.

Russell Westbrook is arguably the most controversial player in the NBA.  His heart, passion and desire to win are always on full display.  The idea that Russell is bad for Kevin is common around the league.  If OKC wins the NBA Championship those thoughts will be put to rest momentarily.  If the Thunder fail to win their first ring the notion that Russell is getting in Kevin's way will linger into next season.
