Gino in trouble???

The New York Jets acquired Michael Vick in the offseason to serve as Gino Smith's back up.  Smith is still a young quarterback trying to find his way in the NFL.  Bringing in a former starter with something left in the tank, while attempting to groom a young quarterback can lead to trouble.  The moment the young player begins to struggle, whispers begin to swirl around the organization for a change.

The Jets have been horrible in the red zone thus far this season.  However, Rex Ryan has once again assembled a great defense.  New York plays the run as good as any team in the NFL.  There is no clear cut great team in the AFC East.  After three games the Jets are right in the thick of things.  If the Jets stick with Smith too long it could cost them a shot at the playoffs.

Vick has certainly had his struggles in recent years.  His decision making and durability are always a question.  However, Vick is talented enough to finish second in the MVP race Back in 2010.  If Smith doesn't get it together soon, Vick may slide into the starter role in the near future.
